‘Explore’ is the first phase in our AFC-story and focuses on discovering what you want and what raises your interest. In doing so, we try to guide you in the development of your interests, which you can further evolve and exploit in the next AFC phase, namely ‘Learn’.

First of all, students with a passion for entrepreneurship can discover what happens in this innovative, creative and vibrant world. Throughout the year, we organise events during which you can come and listen to the stories of both young and more experienced entrepreneurs. These events can also be useful for students who already have a bit more experience, since they can participate in workshops, listen to the advice of successful entrepreneurs, expand their network, etc.

Moreover, our events cover an elaborate variety of topics, to satisfy all students’ demands at the end of the academic year. There will be, for example, an event aimed at the female students where successful women will share their experience with some very interesting and useful tips & tricks. Additionally, students can gain a competitive advantage on the labour market by attending another of our events. Take a look below to get to know the different events and find out which of them attracts you the most.

Young entrepreneurs: October 16, 2018

When we hear the word “Entrepreneur”, we think most of the times about icons like Marc Coucke, Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, Steve Jobs, … Their stories feed our imagination to such extent which makes it seem that we are still miles away from entrepreneurship. However, there are many students of our age that have surprising start-ups and whom can inspire us to do something ourselves. Join us at this first AFC event and let the stories and experiences of starting student-entrepreneurs inspire you.

Entrepreneur Challenge: November 12, 2018

The second edition of the ‘Entrepreneur Challenge’ will again be organised by Ekonomika and AFC Leuven. The challenge starts with a selection case after which only the chosen teams will be able to participate in a variety of workshops and one-on-one sessions in front of angel investors, start-ups and incubators to prepare themselves for the final pitch. The winner with the most innovative idea will receive a great price! Do you have a top-class start-up idea? Or do you just want to be part of this great experience? Even without an idea, you can certainly participate and develop a creative start-up idea during one of the workshops. Subscribe now for the Entrepreneur Challenge 2018 on November 12th via this link.

Sustainability Forum: November 14, 2018

Sustainability. Probably the most popular word nowadays in mission, vision and value statements. Yet, does anybody know what ‘sustainability’ really means? Why are firms currently focussing so hard on the integration of sustainability? What is the influence of our government on this new concept? And what firms take the lead when it comes to sustainability: the established firms or the start-ups? All these questions will be answered at Sustainability Forum on November 14. Thanks to the close cooperation between AFD and AFC, we manage to offer a wide variety of readings, keynotes and interesting firms. This way every student will find something of his/her interest.

The story behind music: March 19, 2019

What is the main activity of students during the summer in Belgium? Festivals! Many people do not realise that a festival is more than just drinking, expensive tickets, crowded places, an audience and a stage with a band. Do not forget about the build-up of the stage, the suppliers of food and drinks, logistics, volunteers, budgeting, pricing and everything happening backstage, such as security. These are just a few areas where decisions have a crucial impact on the success of the festival. Is more always better? Are the increasing prices just a logic decision or is there a strategy behind it? On March 19, 2019 all these questions will be answered by pioneers in the world of festivals and top-class entrepreneurs of the supporting firms. Be sure to look at our Facebook page to be updated on this unique event organised by AFC Leuven.
